Looking For a Vacation Rental For Your Next Vacation
Looking For a Vacation Rental For Your Next Vacation?
You are planning on next vacation. You want it to be perfect. After all, you have waited all year to take this trip. You have heard about vacation rental homes but never experienced them yourself. What should you look for in a vacation rental? What should you expect?
- Location: First and foremost. Is it located on a lake? An Ocean? Golf course? What is it that you are interested in doing while on vacation? Are you bringing small children along? Is it important to be close to the beach to make it more convenient for attending the children? Or are you going to be with all adults playing golf? These are important factors to take into account because convenience is a big deal when you are on vacation.
- How many beds are in each bedroom: This is sometimes overlooked when booking a vacation home. Depending on how many singles vs couples are going to be on your trip, you will need to know the number of beds and their location.
- How much of a deposit is required? Usually a 50% deposit is required and the balance is usually due one month before rival. Home owners want to make sure your check is recieved and cleared before your arrival.
- What is the cancellation policy? And, if you are planning a ski trip, what happens if there is no snow that week? Is there a refund or partial refund? In most cases, home owners do not give a refund for this situation, but it is always good to ask so there are no surprises.
- Is there air conditioning: If you are planning on a going to a warm climate, it may be important to you to have air conditioning in the rental home.
- Are pets allowed? You may be allergic to animals. And, if this is so, you will not want to rent a vacation home where pets are permitted. The same applies to smoking. You may want to look for a non smoking unit if you are a non smoker.
- Do they provide the towels and linens? In some cases, the owner does not provide them. And, in rare instances, the owner will charge you for the use of linens. It is smart to ask and be prepared.
- What other charges are there other than the rental fee? What is expected of you on the day of departure? Are you responsible for cleaning the rental unit? Will you be charged for cleaning regardless of whether you clean it?
